Winter Holiday Research Project

Students will be completing a group research project. Each student will be assigned to research a specific holiday. After researching their topic, the groups will come together to complete a storyboard and design a power point presentation. Finally, students will present their project to the class.

Student turns in a completed and accurate proof of notes page. Student provides additional research. Student asks and answers questions above and beyond those required.

Student turns a a proof of research page that is complete and mostly accurate.

Student turns in an incomplete or inaccurate proof of research page.

Student does not turn in a proof of research page.
3 Points
Amount/ Accuracy of Information
Student answers each required question with accurate information. Student provides additional, accurate information.
6 Points
Student answers each of the seven required question accurately.
5 Points
Student answers four or five of the seven questions with mostly accurate information.
4 Points
Student answers less than four of the required questions with inaccurate information.
3 Points
Background/Pictures
Student uses pictures that accurately represent/support the information provided. Slides are well organized. Other media may be included.
6 Points
Student uses pictures that accurately represent/support the information provided. Backgrounds contribute to the organization of the presentation.
5 Points
Student uses some pictures or inaccurate pictures. Pictures do not represent/support the information provided. Backgrounds distract from the presentation.
4 Points
Student does not use pictures to represent/support the information provided. No backgrounds are used.

Presentation-
Speaking & Listening
Student shares an equal part in the presentation. Students speak clearly and at an understandable pace. Students speak in complete sentences. Students listen to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topic under discussion. 3.SL.1b

Students share in the presentation by speaking clearly at a mostly understandable pace. Students speak in mostly complete sentences. Students listen to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topic under discussion.
5 Points
Students share in some parts of the presentations, but do not speak clearly. Students listen with care to most of the presentations. Students call out during other presentations.
4 Points
Students do not share in the presentation. Students do not listen during other presentations.

  • Include the country or the group of people associated with the celebration- Who celebrates it?
  • Include traditions and/or customs- What are two traditions of this celebration?
  • Include traditional symbols of the celebration- What symbols represent this celebration?
  • Answer the following questions:
  • What activities do people participate in during this celebration?
  • What other fun facts did you learn about this celebration?
  • Upload the PowerPoint presentation to GOOGLE DRIVE
